Beauty advice for locals on the go

Consultant Cheryl Simkins offers tips for day and evening looks.

I have often been asked what type of makeup do I wear for an evening out or to the office?

The Day Look

A daytime makeup look is often to highlight natural features and promote a fresh and awake appearance, to conceal flaws or any blemishes in the skin.

Daytime makeup looks are generally softer than evening or nighttime looks because the natural light of the sun makes heavy makeup jobs more apparent. If you have brown eyes, the light matte colors are quite elegant, long-lasting and silky-smooth to wear throughout the day.  If your eyes are blue or hazel, the mauve of blush/bronze pallet is beautiful when applied.

The “nude” flawless lip (as we always say amongst beauty advisors) is achieved with just a lightly lined defining accent color as a lip pencil. Couple this with light Coral or bronzer and your day-look is achieved in no time. Unleash your natural beauty with a collection of universally flattering eye shadow palettes and be you!

An Evening Look

Romantic Dinner/Gala/Bachelorette Outing/Ladies nights.

Because of the many social and entertainment activities on Hilton Head, Bluffton and Beaufort areas, there are a multitude of restaurants with music events, award galas, ladies night outs, business network gatherings, etc.  And let’s not forget Hilton Head Island is also rated one of the finest wedding venues in the country.  An evening look is also considered the wedding look!

With all of that being said, the pallet of choice for (Brown, Blue or Hazel eyes), can be sexy with playful shades in various finishes that provide highly pigmented color. Try going out of your comfort zone.  Recently I did. I never expected that a really pretty shimmer dark shade of Fuscia on my eyelid would look so stunning. It was really out of my comfort zone. But I loved it! When you least expect it, the compliments are so nice to hear.

Pair up an accented shade to your lips, a matte color is a look that many celebrities are wearing now. Just Under your brows, highlight your shadow with a shimmer of a very light smooth liquid bronzer, and use that same bronzer just on your cheekbones. Create warmth, and allow yourself to radiate…let your inner beauty shine!!
