Transform your space into a modernized coastal dream

The owners of this Sea Pines oceanfront home recently underwent a year-long renovation. By reconfiguring room layouts, maximizing breathtaking views, and introducing new furnishings, a bit of hard work and creativity turned this outdated space into a contemporary coastal oasis. Group 3 Designs is responsible for both the architecture and interior design work, along with its retail store Pyramids, which provided many accents from lighting to artwork and accessories. Use these tips to make your home feel more coastal and modernized. Find these lamps, accessories, and area rug at Pyramids Hilton Head.

1. Major scale

Paying close attention to scale is extremely important, ensuring pieces appropriately fill your space without overwhelming. A 72-inch fan doesn’t seem so large with 14-foot pitched ceilings.

2. Smooth over

Using primarily clean lines and smooth surfaces, such as marble or glass table tops, aids in achieving that coastal, airy feeling.

3. Guiding light

Layer levels of lighting by mixing table and floor lamps, as well as LED cove lighting to create interest and highlight specific architectural details.

4. Material evidence

Including upholstery pieces in sleek textures, such as woven cottons and leathers, introduces a casual yet luxurious feeling while easily withstanding years of wear and tear.

5. Bold and beautiful

Go bold with accents of a strong vibrant color against an overall neutral color pallet.
