For those with a passion for textiles and the art of quilting, the Palmetto Quilt Guild and the Sea Island Quilters offer a warm welcome. The Palmetto Quilt Guild is dedicated to the education and preservation of quilting, offering its members opportunities to learn more about quilt history, design and preservation. The guild also organizes a judged Quilt Festival every two years, showcasing over 125 quilts. Meetings and workshops are held at Island Lutheran Church on Hilton Head Island and Palmetto Electric Cooperative in Hardeeville. Similarly, the Sea Island Quilters focus on fostering the art of quilting within the Beaufort community, encouraging high standards and increased interest in quilting. Meetings are typically on the third Thursday of each month at the Carteret Street United Methodist Church in downtown Beaufort.
