Hobbies: Playing sports. Favorite holiday memory: Our last Christmas up in the mountains. Favorite holiday tradition: Baking Christmas cookies. Christmas decor tip: I like to use the lawn blow-ups because they’re easy and all the kids love them.
Sarah Cunningham
Local since: Born and raised on the island.
Hobbies: I’m an artist. I paint and I love to read. And I love Bible study. Favorite holiday memory: Every year at St. Luke’s Church on the island, we would go to its Christmas service. When they sang Silent Night and everyone had their candles lit up and the whole church was aglow. Favorite holiday tradition: Every year my sister and my mom and I get matching pajamas. Christmas decor tip: Look at the greenery around the island. We have a lot of holly trees that are Christmas-specific. And also the magnolia leaves. Mix them with your Christmas greens and decorations.
John Cunningham
Local since: May, when Sarah and I got married.
Hobbies: Fishing and leatherwork. Favorite holiday memory: Where I grew up in Monroe, at St. Paul’s we would do a living still show of the nativity scene every year. Favorite holiday tradition: Christmas with my extended family. Christmas decor tip: Go around and collect every dry Christmas tree after people throw them out and have a bonfire.
