Biltmore: December is the Most Magical Time to Visit
When George Vanderbilt opened his home to family and friends on Christmas Eve in 1895, a tradition began that is carried on to this day at the largest privately-owned house in the United States. Each holiday season, the 250-room French Renaissance chateau in Asheville, N.C., transforms into an unforgettable yuletide vacation destination filled with wreaths, garlands and the sparkle of thousands of ornaments on more than 55 magnificent Christmas trees. This year’s theme, “A Vanderbilt Christmas,” runs through Jan. 7, 2018. The mansion offers a daytime experience ($65), a candlelight evening experience ($85) and many special events throughout the holiday season.
