Music & Entertainment

HHSO Espressivo: Music of Passion and Joy

The Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra just announced its 2023-24 season, Espressivo. This program features a fresh take on the classics, as well as inspirational pieces, in an engaging and informal environment of shared discovery. “There’s a lot of music of great passion in this season,” President and CEO, Alan Jordan, explained. “And joy!” he added lightheartedly. The season begins with an outdoor pops concert as part of the Historic Bluffton Arts and Seafood Festival in October and ends with Beethoven’s Ode To Joy in April, something that was planned for 2020, but the pandemic wouldn’t allow it. “We’re closing the season with the biggest piece of orchestral music, which is the Beethoven Symphony No. 9,” Jordan says. “And we’re going to feature the Claflin University Concert Choir, along with our chorus and four soloists we’re working with from the Savannah Voice Festival.” This concert is the perfect closer for a season based on passion and joy.
