LOCAL Life Magazine is currently inviting applications for a Lifestyle Journalism/Editorial Fellowship — an exciting opportunity for an early-career journalist to become part of the friendly team at our fast-growing monthly lifestyle publication.

LOCAL Life launched in 2017 and has quickly become the premier upscale lifestyle magazine of the South Carolina Lowcountry. A quarterly sister publication, LOCAL Biz, was launched in 2021.

It will also include: Research and fact-checking; assisting with technical, administrative and promotional tasks; and pitching in with other aspects of operating a daily online publication. Depending on the candidate, full-time may be available.

The Fellowship will last for six months. It will be a 1099 role, with approximately 20 working hours per week paid $1,200 monthly.

The Fellow will benefit from the mentorship of an experienced editor, flexible working hours, support in developing a network of contacts, and the chance to build a substantial and varied portfolio of published work.

Requirements for the role include:

  • Some demonstrated experience of writing for an audience.
  • Willingness to pick up the phone and chase down quotes, check facts and gather other materials.
