A Powder Room Where Coastal Design Takes Flight
Inspired by the Lowcountry marsh, this Palmetto Bluff powder room layers mural wallpaper, marble and gold accents into a jewel box space that celebrates coastal living.

When designing their Palmetto Bluff home, first-time Lowcountry residents Jay and Julie Train sought to fully immerse themselves in their new surroundings. This powder room takes that idea to new heights. A mural wall covering depicts sandhill cranes standing in the marsh, their red-crested heads adding a pop of color among a sea of foggy whites, grays and blues. The sink’s marble pattern mimics the organic ripples of the waves, while gold accents gleam on the hardware, light fixtures and floral chandelier overhead. An emerald-shaped mirror enhances the room’s jewel box aesthetic, while generous counter space makes it as functional as it is beautiful. Designed by Julie Callaway of Front Light Building Company and Tasha Moody of Iris and Oak Interiors, this bathroom offers an elevated take on the area’s distinctive coastal beauty.
Mural wallpaper decorates this jewel box powder room from floor to ceiling, recreating a distinctly Lowcountry scene of sandhill cranes, arching tree branches and floating lily pads. The cool-toned palette borders on stormy, but the sink’s creamy marble countertop and gold accents add warmth and balance.
