Classic Margarita Recipe: Why Salt Makes Cocktails Taste Better
Salt on the rim. The finishing touch that brings cocktails to life
Story By Bailey Gilliam
No cocktail proves the power of a salted rim quite like the margarita. Without it, the drink is bright and refreshing. With it, the flavors suddenly snap into focus. The citrus tastes sharper, the tequila feels smoother, and every icy sip becomes crisper and more satisfying. That contrast between tart lime and savory salt is what turned the margarita into one of the world’s most beloved cocktails, and it’s why bartenders lean on salt in drinks far beyond tequila.
