Recreate This Coastal Floral Arrangement With Beaufort-Grown Blooms
Kim Epley, artistic director at The Studio at Farmer Blue, designs with blooms grown on her 12-acre farm in Seabrook. This month she creates a study in movement and light, anchored by coastal blue delphinium and layered with snapdragons, poppies and soft supporting blooms.

May finds the farm in rhythm, with rising stems, deepening color and a clear sense of direction. This arrangement leans into that shift, anchored by coastal blue delphinium from Beaufort County, resulting in something elevated, effortless and rooted in the ease of a Southern May.
The arrangement
Centered on coastal blue delphinium, this arrangement balances structure and softness. Snapdragons add depth, tweedia echoes the blue, and poppies bring movement, while green hydrangea ground the base. The result is layered yet breathable, expressive and effortlessly reflecting May at its most confident.
- Blue delphinium

Design notes
Choose what feels familiar.
Comfort starts with recognition. Use blooms rooted in your surroundings.
Let it breathe.
Looser arrangements feel more inviting and lived-in.
Layer with intention.
Depth comes from thoughtful pairings, not excess.
Design for experience.
Texture, scent and movement should draw people in, not just the eye.
