Inspiration board: Free space
A LESSON IN MAXIMIZING YOUR SPACE FROM A UNIQUE PORT ROYAL OCEANFRONT HOME
Living on an island comes with limited space, especially those waterfront properties. This oceanfront home in Port Royal has many characteristics of a classic Hilton Head beach house, including excellent views and unique paneling detail. However, the homeowners felt their family room was too small to hold their family and guests, and the kitchen was too closed off. They wanted to open up and update their space while maintaining ties to the home’s unique features. To make their vision a reality, they enlisted the help of Arlene Williams of Arlene Williams Kitchen Design. “We opened the kitchen completely to the family room,” Williams said. “We made the family room larger by moving the laundry to the first floor and capturing that space and by opening the family room further to the all-weather porch overlooking the beach.” Williams shared a few highlights from the project to inspire readers who are considering a renovation.
