Crafted by Dillard-Jones Builders and a dream team of South Carolina designers and vendors, the 2024 Southern Living Idea House is a true celebration of craftsmanship and collaboration. As you walk down the hallway to the left of the front door, the home begins to reveal its personality, one rooted in nature, artistry and quiet luxury. Then you reach the powder room, and everything comes together. Small in size but rich in detail, this space captures the spirit of the home, a perfect balance of coastal ease and thoughtful design. It is earthy, elegant and distinctly Lowcountry, proof that even the most practical spaces can feel poetic.
The walls and trim, painted Sherwin-Williams Bateau Brown (SW 6033), surround you in warmth. The color feels like a deep breath: rich, grounded and unexpectedly soothing. Soft brass fixtures glow against the moody backdrop, while the creamy marble sink and rounded oak vanity bring a touch of softness. Above it all, a vintage mirror reflects the light of Regina Andrew’s Ariel sconces, whose natural brass finish flatters everything it touches.

The real showstopper is the wall treatment. Designer Allison Elebash teamed up with textile artist Rebecca Atwood to create a custom South Carolina camellia stencil, hand-painted in Sherwin- Williams Carnelian (SW 7580) over Twenty2’s Wheaton grasscloth wallpaper. The result is subtle yet striking, a handcrafted nod to heritage that feels entirely fresh. It is the kind of detail that makes guests pause before they even reach for the hand towel.
Finishing touches, including the Waterworks brass faucet and white undermount sink from Bird Decorative Hardware and Bath, tie everything together, blending old-world craftsmanship with modern polish.
Design tip
To bring this look home, choose a warm, monochromatic palette, pair natural textures with gleaming metals, and experiment with hand-stenciling for a bespoke finish. The beauty lies in the human touch, which makes any space feel personal.
