Take it outside: A spot in the sunshine

When you have a view this breathtaking, you’d better make sure your house knows it.

Story by Barry Kaufman + Photography by John McManus

Before landing on this amazing Hilton Head Plantation lot and its panoramic view of Skull Creek’s sparkling beauty, the homeowners had been looking to buy the home next door. One sunset was all it took to convince them that their future lay just a few feet away on 1.89 acres of deep-water majesty. One look says it all – they made the right decision. The project was completed by Group 3 Designs.

Dual designs

The covered porch here is just one part of a multi-dimensional outdoor space, allowing for quiet intimate moments even amid large family get-togethers. Interestingly, the home’s interior embodies a much more classical style than the modern outdoor spaces. Gas-lantern light fixtures soften that modern look.

Bridging beauty

While the scenery defined the property, brilliant architectural choices returned the favor by elaborating on the views. The infinity-edged pool not only creates a dazzling reflection of the home’s fabulous sunsets, its geometry creates sight lines that bring your eye toward the deep-water dock, evoking nautical Lowcountry charm.
