From Scratch: Bone appétit
Story + Photography by Alea Wilkins
The best treats have a way of spreading joy with every bite. While summer often means ice cream runs, backyard cookouts and sweet indulgences for the humans, dogs deserve something special of their own. For her Boykin Spaniel, Camo, LOCAL Life publisher
Lori Goodridge-Cribb makes these homemade frozen snacks that send his tail wagging the moment he hears the freezer door open. Unlike many store-bought dog treats filled with preservatives and unrecognizable ingredients, this recipe keeps things wonderfully simple. Made with just three wholesome staples, these frozen bites deliver a refreshing reward pups love while giving owners complete confidence in exactly what goes into every batch.

Pupsicle Bites
Instructions
- 4 cups plain yogurt (a great source of probiotics and protein)
- 15-ounce can pumpkin puree (rich in fiber and digestive support)
- 3/4 cup natural peanut butter (for flavor and shiny coats)
- Olive oil spray, to prevent sticking (coconut oil works too)
- In a mixing bowl, stir together yogurt, pumpkin puree and peanut butter until fully combined.
- Lightly coat a cupcake pan with olive oil spray. Spoon mixture evenly into molds, then freeze for at least 12 hours.
- Remove treats from molds, and serve frozen. Store extras in a resealable bag in the freezer for up to two weeks.

Pair Frozen Dog Treats With a Woof Pupsicle Toy
Some dogs do not savor treats. They make them disappear in seconds. For especially enthusiastic pups like Camo, Lori places snacks inside a Woof Pupsicle Treat Dispensing Dog Toy, turning snack time into a fun challenge that encourages slower licking, longer enjoyment and a little extra mental stimulation along the way.
